    Substitute Teacher Requirements

    To be considered to become a substitute in Grand Saline ISD you must complete the trainings listed below and provide the listed documentation.

    You may pick up copies of the required trainings and documents listed below at 400 Stadium Drive, Grand Saline, Texas.  Additional documents may be required.

Current Positions Available
Middle School ELAR Teacher

 Description: Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in learning styles in students; Present the subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas   Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations; Plan and use   appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment   that reflect understanding of student learning styles.
 Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from accredited university or its equivalent required.  Valid Texas  teaching certificate with required endorsements.  Must demonstrate competency in the  core academic subject area assigned and teaching methods to be applied.  Must  demonstrate ability to instruct students and manage their behavior; Must demonstrate  strong supervisory, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Maintenance Worker

 Description: Perform general maintenance and repair of building structures and their mechanical, electrical, and sanitary systems throughout district.  Assist skilled workers with repair and maintenance of district facilities, including repairing woodwork; replacing electrical switches, fixtures, and motors; painting, repairing, and replacing plumbing fixtures and drainage systems; and replacing broken glass; Inspect building exterior and interior, playground equipment, and grounds; perform maintenance and minor repairs; Detect and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems, including lockers, furniture, and equipment; Complete repairs as requested on work orders or by maintenance foreman; Assist with relocation of furnishings, such as desks, tables, chairs, file cabinets, etc.;  Move, install, assemble, and repair all school furniture and playground equipment as needed; Hang pictures, mirrors, black boards, bulletin boards, projection screens, towel dispensers, soap dispensers, and other items as required.
 Qualifications: Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair procedures; Ability to operate hand and power tools; Ability to follow verbal and written instructions; Ability to communicate effectively (verbally); Ability to work independently and with a group.

Bus Driver

 Description: Operate school bus and related equipment to provide safe and orderly transportation of students and other authorized persons on assigned route and to and from other designated locations.
 Qualifications: Positive attitude
Ability to keep a pleasant disposition while working with children of all ages
Valid Texas commercial driver’s license (Class B)
School Bus Driver Certification

Substitute Bus Driver

 Description: GSISD needs to have personnel available to drive when regular bus drivers are out of District.  This person will be considered for full time employment should a position become available.  Candidate must be able to pass background check as well as alcohol and drug test.
 Qualifications: Positive attitude
Ability to keep a pleasant disposition while working with children of all ages
Valid Texas commercial driver’s license (Class B)
