    Substitute Teacher Requirements

    To be considered to become a substitute in Grand Saline ISD you must complete the trainings listed below and provide the listed documentation.

    You may pick up copies of the required trainings and documents listed below at 400 Stadium Drive, Grand Saline, Texas.  Additional documents may be required.

Current Positions Available
Athletic Director/Head Football Coach

 Description: Direct and manage district’s athletic program and facilities and instruct and coach students to develop skills and abilities to excel in athletics. Provide each student with the opportunity to participate in an extracurricular athletic activity and ensure compliance with all federal, state, University Interscholastic League (UIL), and local requirements.
 Qualifications:

Experience preferred. Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree, Valid Texas teaching certificate, Current automated external defibrillator (AED) certificate Clear and valid Texas commercial license with passenger and school bus endorsements preferred.
Knowledge of overall operations of an athletic program
Knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
Knowledge of federal, state, and UIL policies governing athletics
Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Excellent public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, parents, and staff

Bilingual Teacher

 Description: Elementary Bilingual Teacher for PreK
 Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.  Valid Texas teaching certification with required endorsement for subject/level assigned  General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.  

Bus Driver
 Location: Transportation Department

 Description: Operate school bus and related equipment to provide safe and orderly transportation of students and other authorized persons on assigned route and to and from other designated locations.
 Qualifications: Positive attitude
Ability to keep a pleasant disposition while working with children of all ages
Valid Texas commercial driver’s license (Class B)
School Bus Driver Certification

Substitute Custodian
 Location: Custodial Department

 Description: GSISD needs to have personnel available to fill in when regular cutodians are out of District. 
 Qualifications: Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures;  Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance; Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment; ability to properly handle cleaning supplies.  Experience Preferred

Substitute Bus Driver

 Description: GSISD needs have personnel available to drive when regular bus drivers are out of District. Candidate must be able to pass background check as well as alcohol and drug test. 
 Qualifications: Positive attitude
Ability to keep a pleasant disposition while working with children of all ages
 Valid Texas commercial driver’s license (Class B)
 School Bus Driver Certification
